PURPOSE OF THE POSITION 

  1.  Main aim is to drive the development of the High Net Worth Individuals fundraising program in order to increase the level of the income from high value funding streams. The Philanthropy Manager – High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) creates new philanthropy fundraising opportunities in order to enlarge the high net worth individuals portfolio, develops and builds long lasting relationships with existing and prospective high net worth donors. Focusing on an engaging case for support and ensuring an excellent standard of cultivation and stewardship via the Philanthropy Stewardship & Cultivation Officer. Be a key contributor in the development of high net worth individuals philanthropy strategies and plans for MSFK Planning and implementing all activities related to the high net worth donor strategies in order to meet KPIs and grow the size of the philanthropy donor base in compliance with budget allocations,
  2. In line with MSF Korea strategic plan, increase MSF K profile to high net worth prospects, especially through direct representation externally,
  3. Under the supervision of the Fundraising Director researches and develops tactics to meet targets identified and support the MSFK overall Fundraising Plan of Action,
  4. Reports on the progress of the pillar activities to the Fundraising Director on a timely basis and provides solutions as needed,
  5. Overseeing the development of Legacy Giving as a new philanthropy source of income
  6. Supports, supervises and appraises all aspects of professional performance of the staff under his/her supervision

 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1.  Analyses and Planning
    • Under the supervision of Fundraising Director is a key contributor in the development of the high net worth individuals strategies, proposes plans for development, and creates action plans and fully assumes their implementation,
    • Prepares reasonable financial goals for each major gift donor based on the donor's history of giving and the organization's knowledge of that donor's potential, and prepares philanthropy income projections,
    • Plan year-round appeal schedule, prepare and maintain a timetable of deadlines to ensure major gifts donors receive reports and other correspondence as required,
    • Ensures collaboration with relevant stakeholders in MSFK to ensure their engagement in HNWI activities to maximize the effectiveness of the program, 
    • Align HWNI activities with all fundraising activities, and support each other  
    • Plans and oversees approved annual philanthropy events program, including taking an active role at each event and ensuring all aspects of the event run with efficiency,
  2.  Philanthropy program management
    • Responsible for cultivating relationships with prospective major gift donors and planned giving donors, encouraging donors so they can continue giving to MSF K as well as explores other avenues of support, including compliance with MSF and Korean practices and legal standards,
    • Coordinates prospect research and develops effective solicitation strategies as well as stewarding donors throughout the major giving process,
    • Works closely with Philanthropy Stewardship & Cultivation Officer in researches to determine the best candidates for MSF K’s major giving program and selection of major gift prospects for cultivation,
    • Manages own portfolio of major gift donors creates a personal contact and ask plan that takes into account the individual donor's interest, motivations, giving patterns and ask preferences,
    • Execute planned activities on a timely basis so individuals on the caseload are retained and upgraded,
    • Ensure all external communications and funding proposals relating to philanthropy program are developed to appropriately reflect the reality of MSF’s operations and in line with the ethics and MSF standards,
    • Ensures prompt and appropriate acknowledgment of all major gifts received,
    • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and provide assistance upon request of Fundraising Director to management team with their solicitation and execute long-term fundraising initiatives,
    • Under the supervision of Fundraising Director, coordinates and works closely with relevant stakeholders in MSFK to ensure the delivery of effective major gifts donors’ relationship management.
  3. Monitoring and Reporting
    • Provides a comprehensive monthly report to the Fundraising Director that accurately reflect caseload activity and performance and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs),
    • Under the supervision of the Fundraising Director, manage and monitor the execution of HNWI budget to ensure that expenditures are in compliance with the allocated budget and in accordance with the plan of action and best practices
    • Ensures all information relating to major gifts income and portfolio is accurate, up to date and well organized and uploaded to the database and/or major donor files while ensuring sensitive data protection,
    • Monitors shortfalls in performance and makes recommendations on how to improve effectiveness to the Fundraising Director,
    • Monitor up-to-date philanthropy best practices both in the MSF movement and in Korea, and adopt/adjust MSF Korea practices accordingly.
  4. People management 
    • Sets individual performance objectives, does performance appraisals, and ensures that staff is accountable to internal MSF K policy,
    • Leads the pillar in building profitable, multi-year relationships with high net worth individuals and legacy giving, to achieve agreed objectives,
    • Interviews, hires, trains and coach employees under his/her supervision,
    • Ensures personal and professional development by proposing training when necessary,
    • Provides mentorship to staff under his/her supervision in order to develop and retain skills, ensuring motivation and performance,
    • Ensures that the staff under his/her supervision is tracking and monitoring results of an individual caseload,
    • Supervises and monitors the full completion of duties and determines priorities.
  5. Departmental and Other
    • As an active member participates in MSF relevant Working Group and attends the relevant working group meeting abroad when approved by Fundraising Director 
    • Provide constructive input to department related activities (e.g. team meetings, strategic planning, cross-departmental support activities),
      •    Willingness to adjust work schedule to suit the needs of the Fundraising responsibilities. This may include working flexible hours and providing support to other roles when required (training, MSFK events, evening teleconferences with related platforms).
      •    Undertake such other activities as may be required and approved by the Fundraising Director.
       

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  1.  Essential Skills and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree,
    • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in NGO or corporate sector (corporate social responsibility, priority banking or high net worth account servicing background, key account),
    • Strong commitment to MSF’s humanitarian aid work,
    • Excellent verbal and written skills: ability to engage donors, make a case for support and build rapport easily,
    • Ability to secure project and organization information and create and write effective offers, proposals and asks,
    • Excellent presentation skills,
    • Excellent face to face, interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills,
    • Professional, self-assured manner, displaying emotional intelligence, credibility, gravitas to inspire confidence in high net-worth donors and other funders,
    • Organized and methodical approach to planning and delivering against a varied workload,
    • Proven ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple jobs, a willingness to power through challenges,
    • Ability to manage process, deadlines, and budget while adhering to the policies and procedures,
    • Positive and constructive attitude while solving problems,
    • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team,
    • Fluent in both English and Korean.
  2.  Desirable Skills and Experience
    • Knowledge of MSF and its work,
    • Good networking skills and/or existing network base,
    • Experience and/or extensive understanding of Fundraising as a discipline, Experience in financial planning, budgeting, and target setting.
