[PURPOSE OF THE POSITION]

  • Develop a strategic vision and innovative ideas to grow fundraising results and guide the team in the implementation of the annual and business plan.
  • Lead by example, inspire, motivate an experienced fundraising team and foster a work environment based on our core values of humanity, integrity and results.
  • Actively contribute as a Management Team Member to the development of MSF in Korea.
  • Maximize private income from a diversified set of sources and ensure a healthy return on the investments while abiding by MSF Fundraising principles.

 

[MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES]

1. Strategic planning and budgeting

  • Formulate, develop and drive long-term fundraising strategies within South Korean home society. Define strategic directions per target group, identify the appropriate channels mix and messages, set and monitors qualitative and quantitative objectives.  
  • Lead the annual process of: 
  • setting and reviewing multi-years and yearly investment and revenue targets;  
  • determining the appropriate mix of income streams best designed to meet the strategic goal of diversified, predictable, secure and cost-efficient revenue translating strategies into annual action plans and business plans
  • Plan and implement the action plans, take corrective actions if needed and monitors the achievement of financial and non-financial objectives

  • Evaluate and report on the action plan performances to the General Director
     

2. Implementation  
General 

  • Ensure that fundraising strategies, messages, and practice reflect MSF’s medical humanitarian ‘voice’, abide by ethical standards, and respect our donors’ intent. 
  • Ensure that MSF Korea’s brand identity is safeguarded and that all external communications materials and activities are representative of MSF’s mandate and image in accordance with MSF International logo and language style guidelines.  
  • Ensure that all fundraising activities undertaken follow the MSF Fundraising principles. 
  • Follow up the evolution and trends of the Korean fundraising market with the aim of identifying opportunities and best practices. 
  • Maintain external professional networks and monitor developments in the sector. 
  • Closely monitor news and trends in Korea capturing which can have an impact on MSF’s activity. 
  • Maintain knowledge of legal environment and ensures that all work undertaken meets legal and regulatory compliance, especially for data confidentiality. 
  • Strive to constantly review and create processes and procedures that improve the efficiency and the quality of the fundraising work. 
  • Lead the selection and negotiation with the main external suppliers and oversee relationships with all departmental vendors. 

Fundraising activities 

  • Coordinate the creation of all fundraising campaigns. Oversee and participate in the implementation of all fundraising actions (both acquisition and cultivation actions) to ensure that they are executed in a high quality, timely and efficient manner according to the fundraising annual plan. 
  • Oversee the donor care procedures, processes, and systematic responses to donor queries with in depth knowledge of CRM 
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity and completeness. 

Marketing and Brand Management  

  • Oversee the development and leveraging of brand positioning and brand management  
  • Management and delegation of marketing activities related to fundraising implementations 
  • Coordinate with Director of Communications, Director of Human Resources, and Head of Digital for integrated marketing activities  


3. Monitoring & Evaluation  

  • Define and update, as needed, a fundraising KPIs system to monitor the performance of the actions executed and adapt the strategy accordingly to obtain the most effective and efficient results. 
  • Generate monthly and quarterly reports as required by the General Director. 
  • Monitor public awareness of MSF Korea in the home society and its presence in the media and partner with the Director of Communication and Head of Digital to reinforce the positioning of the Organization. 
  • Boost, coordinate and oversee regular quantitative and qualitative surveys on the donors’ database, and the fundraising market in general. 

4. Team Management  

  • Plan FTE according to fundraising activities and objectives. 
  • Delegate tasks to, consult with, and coach staff to achieve goals.  
  • Conduct regular appraisals on his/her team in accordance with the Performance Management System of the MSF office in Korea. 
  • Ensure the capacity building and training of his/ her team

5. Representation 

  • Represent MSF in and actively participate in the fundraising bodies in Korea (e.g. Fundraising association and relevant associations.) 
  • Meet donors to solicit their engagement and financial support.
  • Actively connect and participate in relevant fundraising platforms existing in the MSF Movement

6. Other 

  • Ensure the cohesion of the MSF Korea team and the development of synergies between the various activities and departments
  • Direct weekly fundraising area meetings 
  • Member of the Management Team

 

[QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS]

1. Essential Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in business management or marketing 
  • Minimum 10 years of proven professional experience in fundraising or marketing or business planning, preferably in an international setting. 
  • Experience designing, managing and implementing fundraising strategies for a broad range of initiatives, including direct response marketing and major gifts. 
  • Strong ability to demonstrate initiative, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit to achieve desired outcomes. 
  • Excellent analytical skills; facility with spreadsheets, budgets and forecasting. Proven capability to implement figures analysis. Ability to control and manage a budget. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills demonstrated in previous roles that required communication with a broad and diverse set of partners and impeccable judgment. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in managing people. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with leadership quality with a solid experience in team management and strong negotiation skills. 
  • Genuine interest in the humanitarian field. 
  • Commitment to the humanitarian principles of MSF. 

2. Language 

  • Fluent in written and spoken English. 
  • Fluency in Korean is mandatory.
