The World Is Our Emergency Room - 국경없는의사회는 인도적 위기가 발생한 세계 곳곳에서 활동하고 있습니다.
국경없는의사회는 공정성과 중립성의 원칙을 따라 활동하고 있지만, 개인 및 집단에게 닥친
극단적인 폭력 행위를 목격할 때, 현지 주민들이 용인할 수 없는 고통을 겪는 상황에서
구명 의료 활동이 차단될 때, 의료시설이 위협 당할 때, 위기 상황이 외면 당할 때, 구호 활동이 부적절하거나
잘못 활용될 때는 이를 공개적으로 알림으로써 사람들의 관심을 모으고자 노력합니다.
이러한 테모이나지(témoignage/프랑스어로 ‘증언’)는 소외된 위기에 대한 대중의 인식을 높이고자하는
국경없는의사회의 핵심 활동입니다. 인도주의적 상황에 대한 경험이 없거나 부족한 사회 구성원들의 참여를
독려하기엔 ‘영화’라는 매체가 좋은 시각적 방편이 됩니다.
이에 국경없는의사회 한국은 호평 받은 4편의 다큐멘터리 영화를 모아 소개합니다.
2017년 12월 1-3일 서울에서 처음 열리는 국경없는영화제에서 이를 상영합니다.
이번 영화제는 여러분께 낯설거나 잊혀진 일들이 벌어지고 있는 세계 속으로 향하는 창을 열어 줄 것입니다. - Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) responds to humanitarian crises around the world.
MSF offers medical assistance based on the principles of impartiality and neutrality.
When MSF witnesses extreme acts of violence against individuals or groups, we may speak out publicly. We may seek to bring
attention to extreme need and unacceptable suffering when access to life-saving medical care is hindered, when medical
facilities come under threat, when crises are neglected, or when the provision of aid is inadequate or abused.
This “témoignage” (“witnessing” in French) is an integral part of MSF’s humanitarian activities, and bearing witness to
human suffering and raising awareness for neglected crises is a core responsibility of MSF. Movies are a visually inspiring way to
engage with members of the community who may not necessarily otherwise have exposure to humanitarian narratives.
With this in mind, MSF Korea gathered 4 critically acclaimed documentary films to screen in the first-ever MSF film festival in Korea,
FILMS WITHOUT BORDERS, in Seoul December 1-3, 2017. These films offer a window into parts of the world you might have
forgotten, or not even known, to witness crises that are much closer than you think.
