혹시 연령에 대한 제한이 있습니까?

Q : Is there any age limit to apply?

A : In MSF, We don’t have age limit. So you can apply how old you are, but important thing is you need to be healthy both physically and mentally. However, under COVID-19, there is strict restriction for people who are over 60 years old could not go to the field. But now, it’s changing if person who is vaccinated COVID vaccine and doesn’t have any diseases might be able to go our field

의사로서 Msf에 지원하여 떨어지는 케이스가 얼마나 되는지, 어떤 경우에 주로 떨어지는지 알고 싶습니다.

Q : How many cases there are who fails to join the pool, and what could be the major reasons?

A : It’s quite difficult to give the specific number. However only 20 to30% application can be validated. The main reason to reject is a language or lack of the experiences.

영어수준이 어느정도 되어야 하는지 궁금합니다. 영어 외 제2외국어도 필수인가요?

Q : Do you have specific standard of English level? And is second language other then English required?

A : English level is important to have the able to communicate. We don’t request the level of native speaker. But it’s important to communicate as a professional. If the person who is logistician with contract experience can work as same as in Korean. So if you can work and explain what your position do and manage the team in English, you are an eligible candidate.

French is benefit to join MSF. Half of the MSF project is related to French speaking countries. So if you speak both French and English, you can have more opportunity to go to the MSF project. French is plus factor and also Arabic does.

Q : What kind of work non-medical applicant can do?

A : There are two main duty for non-medical applicant. One is an administrator who oversees HR and Finance and the other is a logistician.

Q : Is there Korean clinical psychologist expert?

A : Now we don’t have Korean clinical psychologist. We rarely recruit that position. But if applicant who has this experience and has ability to counsel in English or French, please apply

Q : Do you also recruit project generalist? (Project Officer)

A : We don’t recruit a project generalist/ Officer. MSF recruit only project coordinator who has huge area of project management experiences such as managing big team in the similar environment with MSF and who in charge of the security.

<Contract condition>

2년 이상 장기로 파견을 가기도 하는지 궁금합니다.

Q : Would it be possible to go for the mission over 2 years?

A : Basically, MSF's first mission is from 6 months to 9 months. Sometimes, it can be 1 year. Duration of our mission is rarely 2 years.

어느 대학 출신인지 중요한가요?

Q : Name of the University would be important to apply?

A : It’s definitely NO. We just consider what you studied there and what do you have experience as a professional.

<Gap period>

미션을 마치고 귀국했을 때의 신분이 궁금합니다.

전문의 활동가로 채용된 후, 파견 사이의 기간 동안 어떠한 생활을 하고 계신 지 실제 전문의 활동가 분들의 이야기를 듣고 싶습니다. 구호활동을 하고 난 뒤 한국으로 돌아오면 무엇을 하시는 지 궁금합니다. (생존(?)을 위한 최소한의 경제활동이라던가…)

Q : I wonder how the expat manages their life after the mission or gap period between the mission. How they manage their gap period or what they are doing while waiting for the mission.

A : MSF’ contract is only valid while expat is working in the field. contract will be finished the day when the expat comes back to Korea. It means that salary, national insurance are finished that day.

And What people do between the gap is really depends on person. Some doctors get agreements with their hospital . Also some non-medical person who finished 6 months mission have 2 to 3 months break and then, they will go back to the field. It depends on the field’s needs.
