PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under the direct supervision of the Donor Development Manager, and in close collaboration with other staff in MSF Korea and external agencies, the Donor Cultivation Officer implements cultivation tactics and activities in order to raise the amount of donation income from existing donors, including middle donors as defined in Annual Plan. The role focuses on maximizing existing individual donor potential.

  1. Implements and improves approved donor, including middle donors cultivation activities that are aligned with the fundraising strategy of MSF K and will support and enhance MSFK fundraising targets,
  2. Maximizes donor life time value and increase donation potential of existing donors by ensuring a superior donor experience,
  3. Monitors and reports on performance of donor cultivation activities,
  4. Assists the Donor Development Manager in building customized donor communication for MSFK based on gender, age, profession and regional location.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES

  1. Donor communication for cultivation
  • Provides input into the development of cultivation program tactics,
  • Implements donor’s cultivation communication tools determined by the Donor Development Manager using diverse channels,
  • Identifies topics, proposes appropriate components, research information and develop texts according to donor segment for all fundraising appeals through direct mails, telemarketing and donor cultivation communication,
  • Proposes target donor segments and ask strategies for all donor cultivation programmes,
  • Project management for all donor cultivation programmes – planning project timeline, steering and supervising third-party service providers, delivers campaigns within the planned budget and timeline,
  • Under the supervision of Donor Development Manager manages budget in order to increase efficiency,
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance related to agency management and donor data.

 

  1. Agency management on cultivation part
  • Oversees the performance of external agencies,
  • Researches the external agencies in the market, and implement activities of the contract,
  • Implements the process of invoice and payment,
  • Regular monitoring of the quality of services provided,
  • Provides training including MSF operational news and contents to call center for cultivation campaign.

 

  1. Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Analyses the campaign results, checks the target and based on the performance evaluation proposes tactics in order to improve the retention rate,
  • Provide regular reports on performance of all cultivation campaigns to Donor Development Manager,
  • Monitors donor cultivation campaigns on a regular basis for effectiveness and cost efficiencies offering solutions to problems,
  • Collect information on market to find marketing to maximize the donation potential of existing donors and report to Donor Development Manager.

 

  1. Departmental and Others
  • Manage the process of updating data when the DB administrator is not available,
  • Cooperate with Digital Fundraising team to produce online components in support for the fundraising appeals/donor communications whenever applicable,
  • As an active member, participate in MSF relevant Working Group and attend the relevant working group meeting abroad when delegated by Donor Development Manager and/or FR Director,
  • Provide constructive inputs to department related activities (e.g. team meetings, strategic planning, cross - departmental support activities),
  • Willingness to adjust work schedule to suit the needs of the Fundraising responsibilities. This may include working flexible hours and providing support to other roles when required (networking, MSFK events and evening teleconferences with digital platforms),
  • Undertake such other activities as may be required and approved by the line manager and/or Fundraising Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Essential skills and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related work experience,
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in NGOs and or corporation with experience in marketing or sales,
  • Experience and successful delivery of a diverse range of direct marketing
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and presentation skills,
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and creative thinking skills,
  • Attention to detail and accuracy,
  • Superior time management skills and ability to deliver to deadlines,
  • Ability to work in a team and foster team spirit,
  • Strong commitment to MSF’s humanitarian aid work,
  • Self-starter. Ability to work independently,
  • Fluent in written and spoken Korean and English.

 

Desirable skills and experience

  • Fundraising and/or marketing experience,
  • Knowledge of MSF and its work.
  • Experience in multiple agency management and working with external suppliers to deliver projects,
  • Excellent MS office processing skills.
