<PURPOSE OF THE POSITION>
Under the supervision of Philanthropy Manager-High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) and Philanthropy Manager-Corporate, the Philanthropy Officer contributes to the growth and further development of philanthropy fundraising and partnership programs in both HNWI Individuals and Corporates sectors by providing strategy, sourcing, and onboarding high-quality prospects and supporting implementation of stewardship and cultivation for existing major individual and corporate donors.
<MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES>
1. Analyses and Planning
- Under the guidance and supervision of the two Philanthropy managers, PO investigates, analyzes, and synthesizes large quantities of research and donor prospects data for HNWI Individuals and Corporates
- Assists to develop and implement an effective Philanthropy donor stewardship program in accordance with the annual Plan of Action and support planning year-round appeal schedule for HNWI and Corporate segments
- In collaboration with other team members in Fundraising, supports implementation of annual promotional plan for philanthropy program, such as legacy giving promotion through DRTV, on MSFK website, and corporate donation promotion in public space
- Proactive invest and develop an innovative fundraising and philanthropy strategy and appropriate cultivation tools to secure high level gifts in HNWI and Corporate sectors
2. Philanthropy Development and Stewardship
- Support implementing approved annual philanthropy programs, such as major donor event, donation ceremonies, Mapathon, Hospital for Hospital, etc., for both HNWI and Corporate partnerships
- Provides support for preparing content and creates the segmented appeals, letters. proposals and tailored communication materials
- Ensures the timely implementation of annual correspondence plan to follow up philanthropy annual activities plan
- Maintain appropriate and timely follow-up of donors following the receipt of pledges (such as thank you letters, birthday cards, corporate sign boards etc.)
- Assists to develop diverse tools for increasing loyalty of major gifts and HNWI & Corporate donors
- Process incoming donations and supporting data entry, acknowledgement letter processing and data organization
3. Prospect Research
- Runs mid-level and major donor identification and prospecting processes for new and existing donors, allowing to make more targeted approaches at the appropriate level
- Creates prospect donor’s database by fact-finding and analyzing information from the MSFK donor database
- Prepares and update research profiles on current and prospective donors using publicly available sources and market data
4. Monitoring and Reporting
- Provides a regular report on the performance of HNWI and corporate partnerships activities to the philanthropy managers ensuring donor data and records up to date in the CRM
- Provides regular report for an earmarked and other required donation
- Monitors up to date HNWI and corporate partnerships best practices both in MSF movement and in Korea, and provides periodic reports on the best practices
5. Departmental and Other
- As an active member, participates in MSF relevant Working Group and attends the relevant working group meeting abroad when approved by Philanthropy Managers and/or Fundraising Director
- Provide constructive input to department related activities (e.g., team meetings, strategic planning, cross departmental support activities)
- Willingness to adjust work schedule to suit the needs of the Fundraising responsibilities
- Support such other activities as may be required and approved by the Philanthropy managers
<QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS>
1. Essential skills and experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in NGO and or corporation
- Strong commitment to MSF’s humanitarian aid work
- Experience in research, market monitoring/benchmarking and donor communication
- Superior interpersonal and influencing skills and proven capacity to build excellent relationships with key stakeholders, particularly with HNWI and corporates
- Written and verbal communication skills including good presentation skills to organize information and create effective offers, proposals, and appeals
- Analytical skills, database proficiency in Excel with focus on detail
- Ability and diligence to search for information and new opportunities
- Ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines and work independently with limited supervision
- Aptitude to work with flexibility, autonomy, and entrepreneurship, both individually and as part of a complex team effort
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment, with a direct, honest, and respectful approach to communication and problem solving
- Fluent both in Korean and English
2. Desirable skills and experience
- Knowledge of MSF and its work
- Familiarity and/or experience in strategic development planning and fundraising preferably in NGO sector
- Experience with CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database software
