[PURPOSE OF THE POSITION]

Under direction of the Communications Director, Content Manager will ensure quality content to increase visibility, raise awareness, and anchor MSF’s activities, principles, and concerns in Korea. S/he will develop tailored messaging for Korean audiences, ensure efficient coordination of content production and develop relevant editorial themes and story angles based on timely topics and MSF priorities.

 

[MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES]

Under supervision of the Communications Director, manage the development and production of content for presentation on MSF Korea platforms and publications, with an aim to raise visibility of MSF Korea and sensitize the public on global humanitarian crises.

 

1. CONTENT MANAGEMENT

· Prioritize and produce content of MSF Korea in line with the objectives and activities of the organization.

· Manage content planning, identify stories and features for each platform, and maintain editorial calendar.

· Check and safeguard that messages and tone are correct and in line with the MSF’s core principles, communications policies, editorial style, institutional identity.

· Oversee multimedia content production to ensure the consistent quality of audio-visual content.

· Work closely with the Digital Communications Officer to ensure effective dissemination of contents on each channel.

· Review, fact-check, and provide editorial suggestions when needed for the content produced by Communications team and other departments.

 

2. CONTENT PRODUCTION

· Identify resources for original content for different purposes and coordinate content production in collaboration with the Communications team and other departments.

· Work closely with spokespeople, including field workers, on storytelling and messaging.

· Review final products to be published on each public communications channel.

 

3. PUBLICATIONS

· Plan, organize and manage the overall institutional publications of MSF Korea, including quarterly news magazines and annual activity reports.

· Organize regular editorial committee meetings to discuss the needs of each department for institutional publications and arrange accordingly.

· Write, edit, and proofread content for publications and manage the overall production process.

· Review content for print communications and marketing materials from other departments.

 

4. PUBLIC AWARENESS AND ENGAGEMENT

· Work closely with others in Communications department to develop material and approaches to support public engagement plans.

· Work with external partners such as publishing companies and media/content platforms in content collaboration initiatives.

· Manage uses of MSF brand in external platforms, including communicating with the Copyright Association.

· Collaborate with Fundraising and HR in support of generating public awareness and on opportunities and challenges in the media.

 

5. OTHER

· Represent the Communications Director internally when Director is absent.

 

[QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS]

1. ESSENTIAL SKILLS

· Genuine interest in and commitment to the medical humanitarian principles of MSF

· Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in communications, publication, or PR

· Editorial or content creation experience

· Insight and understanding of communications approaches and media landscape of Korea

· Experience in supervisory or managerial role

· Structured approach, eye for detail and ability to manage deadlines

· Knowledge of how to use social media and traditional media channels

· Experience working in a global, diverse organizational culture

· Creative and proactive

· Excellent interpersonal skills and team player

· Native level Korean language ability

· Excellent speaker and writer of English

· Willingness to travel overseas if and when required

 

2. DESIREABLE SKILLS

· Experience working in a nongovernmental or non-profit organization

· Knowledge of medical, technical, and humanitarian concepts and terminology

· Knowledge and interest in humanitarian issues and international affairs

· Photography and/or videography skills

· Familiarity with CMS and Adobe Acrobat/Illustrator
